Think About The Possibilities

Young Thinkers of York’s youth robotics program needs your support. Our youth robotics program provides hands-on activities to hundreds of York students each year. Over 220 underserved students in York City participated in our robotics activities in 2020 which served as an introduction to robotics and engineering principles. These activities are provided directly in local school classrooms which are aimed to get students excited about science and technology and an interest in pursuing a STEM-related career.

Our RoboThinkers after-school program is a competitive FIRST LEGO League robotics team for grades 4-8. Participating students build and program robots and compete in a 4-part competition against other regional teams. Over the past 4 years, the team has received 12 awards including competing at a national competition. The program develops each team member’s 21st-century skill sets while building confidence and self-esteem in each to become successful in their future endeavors. Our students learn the value of teamwork while developing skills that will last a lifetime. Team members spend about 150 hours practicing together during the year.

Our RoboMasterminds FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics team is for students in grades 7-12. The team started during the summer of 2021. With the generoisty of a Fund for York County grant through York County Community Foundation and the continued support from the community, we were able to start the new team which will enble our students to participate on a competitive level through 12th grade.

Our programs are much more than just building and programming robots. We are providing an experience that will have a positive impact on a young person’s life. Right now, we are looking for companies and organizations to sponsor our robotics program so that Young Thinkers of York can continue to provide the necessary technology and resources for our York students to be successful.
