Think About The Possibilities

RoboThinkers is the name of Young Thinkers of York’s FIRST Lego League team, and we need your support! RoboThinkers is the only competitive FLL robotic team in the City of York that is open to all eligible students. Young Thinkers of York provides this program to York students for free. According to a recent report, our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) program serves a population in which 86-96% of the York City student base lives in poverty. RoboThinkers provides our at-risk youth with STEM exposure and new experiences that can present them with an interest to enter into a STEM related career that can help curve the generational poverty cycle we see happening in our city. Help us connect our York students with a brighter future and hope.

Right now, RoboThinkers need additional resources so that we can be on the same competitive level as the other regional teams. With the gracious help from our community, we will be able to proudly represent the City of York.

Our program is much more than just building robots. We are providing an experience that will have a positive impact on a young person’s life. We are looking for companies and organizations to sponsor an individual team member as we take this journey together. By sponsoring one of our 6 students, we hope that this will turn into an everlasting bond that you and our student can share for many years to come, even pass their college days. We will provide you with the profile of your sponsored student and you will have an opportunity to meet him/her and their parents during one of our practices. You will be able to track our progress and your sponsored student will be able to correspond with you during our live events. Your sponsored student will wear only your company’s name on the back of their team shirt that will be worn for every scrimmage, competition, presentation, and outreach activity.

Where your sponsorship goes:

$250 can help with the purchase of team shirts to wear during competitions and outreach activities.
$500 will buy an EV3 robot and robot spare parts.
$750 will purchase 3 Chromebooks to use for programming, research, and presentations.
$1500 ensures the costs of 2 EV3 robots, regional competition registration fees, 10 hats, and team giveaways are covered.
$2500 helps towards the team’s travel expenses to the regional qualifier competition, FIRST registration fees, scrimmage registration fees, 4 team building activities, 2 EV3 robots, robot spare parts, and 1 Chromebook.

*The robots and computers will serve the students for a minimum of 5 years. The robots and computers will be used to teach robotics to an additional 20 York City students during the off-season (Feb-July) at Martin Library.
